Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period, similar to the fonts at Basconcillos del Tozo and Pedrosa de Valdelucio. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 14 February 2021] notes: "La iglesia, dedicada a San Esteban, protomártir, es renacentista, del siglo XVI [...] La portada es románica [...] Tiene una buena pila bautismal románica, con gajos y anillos y otra cuadrada." Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) as late-Romanesque, with suggested date in the early 13th century. The font consists of a round basin with tapering sides and round underbowl, not quite hemispheric; there is a flat band with a vine around the upper side, just below the rim; the sides are covered in a ribbed pattern [32 ribs a/p the Enciclopedia… (ibid.)], below which is a band of interlace; the underbowl picks up the ribbed pattern of the basin sides; raised on a circular stem with a moulded lower side, and a round-to-square lower base with two human heads and two leaves [NB: the Enciclopedia… (ibid.) notes that this lower base may be earlier than the rest of the font]; it also gives the fonts at Barrio Panizares, and the two indicated by Bilbao [cf. supra] as sharing some of the decorative elements.
