Listed in Pérez Carmona (1974). The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 3 February 2021] notes: "Tiene una iglesia, toda ella monumental, dedicada a San Nicolás de Bari, románica, con cabecera renacentista [...] La portada es también románica y otra neoclásica con frontón. También la torre es románica clásica de dos cuerpos con dos ventanales gemelos de columnas pareadas, con dos campanas y dos campanillos, muy llamativa. Toda recién restaurada. La pila también es románica, con decoración en el fuste." Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. The Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ), however, dates it to the late Gothic period. The roughly hemispheric bowl is plain on the outside, except for a moulded upper rim, but the inner well has sixteen concave ribs with sharp arrises; the short stem of the base has a thick roll moulding at the top, and three figures around (a little dragon and two atlantes) who appear to support the bowl; set on a tall quadrangular plinth with chamfered sides at the back. There is no cover present but the upper rim of the basin retains two metal staples from the old font locking mechanism. [NB: cf. Index entry for Almine No. 2 for a holy-water stoup at the nearby Ermita de Santa Lucia]
