Described and illustrated in Uranga & Iñiguez (1973), who date it to the 13th century and describe it as being in the Mudejar syle- and in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?-); the CMdeN identifies the coat of arms between the two circles as that of the Rodríguez de Baquedano family. Described and illustrated in Domeño (1992): the square basin has two large encircled six-lobe medallions on the left side with rosettes in their centre; the upper and lower spandrels formed by the outer circles have a shield with at the top [identified in Domeño (ibid.) as being the coat-of-arms of the Rodríguez de Baquedano (p. 85) and later as "García de Baquedano" (p. 173), and a fleur-de-lis in the lower one; (the back side is against the wall); the next side [L->R] has three trefoil arches: the Annunciation spread over arches 1 & 3, while the middle arch has a font or fountain from which sprouts a tree [tree of life?] and in which two doves drink; the right side of the basin is ornamented with two large and complex tracery circles described by Domeño as of Mudéjar inspiration, two oak leaves in the spandrels. García de Castro Valdés (2000) notes medieval quadrangular fonts in Spain at Beloncio, Bullaso, San Isidoro de León, Villanueva de Valdecarzana (suggested date in the 11th century); Armentia, Bustasur, Dosante, Gormaz, Quinanillabon, Rosales, Santillan del Agua, Soto de Bureba (suggested date in the 12th or 13th century); Ripodas and Turrillas (suggested date in the 13th century). Noted in Plazaola Artola (2008?) as a font of the 14th century. On-site notes: the underbowl is chamfered and plain; the basin is raised on a short cylindrical stem; the flat wooden lid is modern, although the iron staples still in the upper rim may belong to the old cover. [NB: the basin well has now -June 1999- an added small square insert which provides a division of the inner well; it is not known when this insert was added but it was not original].
