Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?-, v. IV**: 86 and pl. 105) and in Domeño (1992: 77-78, 184 and figs. 97, 98): baptismal font of the Romanesque period consisting of a hemispherical basin mounted on a cylindrical pedestal and a round lower base ornamented with ball motifs at 90-degree angles. The whole is raised on a modern two-step plinth. The basin has a pattern of arrises with ball ornamentation near the upper rim; besides these, four human figures are located at 90-degree angles, at the same level as the ball motifs. Domeño (ibid., p. 77-78) identifies the figures as three males and one female and suggests that the first three are the Holy Trinity -one of them has bent knees on which a book may be seen- and the fourth figure, female and holding a baby in her lap, is identified as the Madonna and Child. The combination of ball motif and crudely rendered figures is non uncommon in fonts of this region [cf. Cognate fonts]. Noted in Plazaola Artola (2008?).
