Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?- ) and in Domeño (1992). The upper sides of the basin have convex ribbed motif, each rib ending on a carved face underneath, as if the ribs were hats to the faces; under the faces, the ribbing changes to concave on the underbowl (the same motif which ornaments the font appears on capitals of the nave of the church). The upper part of the base has four crouching rather grotesque figures; Domeño [cf. supra] suggests it may have been an old capital reused here. The stem of the base and the lower base are octagonal, quite unremarkable and probably not originally part of the font either. Bilbao (1996) identifies the grotesque figures on the base as atlantes. Noted in García de Castro Valdés ([s.d.] 1998?) On-site notes: the inside of the basin well appears divided by a vertical partition, clearly not original.
