Described and illustrated in Lidén (1998: 66-81) as a baptismal font "huggen i engelsk stil" [=in the English style] dated to ca. 1120-1130 and signed by an inscription to its maker, master Johannes; the font, which is dedicated to St. Olav in the same inscription, is almost cylindrical in shape and unmounted; there are no figural motifs on this font; the sides are ornamented with an arcade of eleven round arches in which can be found an interlace motif, although but one of the arches is occupied by a cross (?) and another by the inscription [cf. Inscription area]. Very similar in general shape and ornamentation to the font at Källby, in the same area [cf. Index entry for Källby]. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920517F3] as a baptismal font made of sandstone by master Johannes in the mid-12th century; the basin has an inscription: "ERGAST : JOHANNES / SCS : OLAVVS"; the other ten arches are filled with various types of interlacing. There are fonts of this type also in England: fonts at West Coleshill (basin only), Avington and Stoneleigh. The font has been badly damaged, especially on the upper sides of the basin; repaired since.
