Font Notes:
Listed by Enlart as a Tournai font on a five-support base (Enlart, 1902), and mentioned in Bond (1908) after Enlart. That font seems to be the same one catalogued and illustrated in Ghislain (2009) as a baptismal font of the Namurois group, filiation Beauvechain, made of limestone (calcaire de Meuse) ca. 1150-1160; Ghislain (ibid.) notes the font is reputed to have originated in an ancient church in Huy, acquired before WWI by Raymond Pelgrims de Bigard (†1955), who restored its base and placed it in the courtyard of castle at Grand-Bigard [NB: Kasteel Groot-Bijgarden / Château de Grand-Bigard, in the municipality of Dilbeek, Flemish Brabant, 7 km W of Brussels]. Ghislain (ibid.) notes that the font was acquired in 1981 by the M.A.R.A.M. and exhibited in Grand Curtius [i.e., Le Grand Curtius: Musée d'Archéologie, d'Art mosan, d'Armes, du Verre, et des Arts décoratifs, Quai de Maestricht 13, 4000 Liège] in 2009. The font has no cover present but shows anchorage holes at diagonally opposed spandrels of the upper rim from an old cover [the holes are in the spandrels that house the angel with the horn and St. John's haloed eagle]. Noted and illustrated in Images et histoires des patrimoines numérisés [http://www.numeriques.be/index.php?id=6&no_cache=1&tx_portailnumeriques_pi1%5Bview%5D=item_detail&tx_portailnumeriques_pi1%5Bid%5D=peps%3AMAR-GC-REL-02a-1981-34060&tx_portailnumeriques_pi1%5Bnum%5D=2] [accessed 18 October 2021]
