*************** ALL PHOTOS https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:G%C3%B6del%C3%B6vs_kyrka Noted and illustrated in Tynell (1913- ) as a medieval baptismal font made of sandstone, originally from the church at Östra Tunhem, in Skaraborg County, Västergötland, later moved to Gödelöf / Gödelöv; the font consists of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on two round blocks forming the pedestal base; the basin is decorated with a band of fret motif all around, below the upper rim, while a two-strand braid runs around lower down, towards the underbowl; between those are two protruding human heads, one possibly crowned, the other with animals (dogs? lions?) on the sides; on another side of the basin a pair of quadrupeds (dogs? lions?) appear to bite the branches of a tree or plant; the two blocks of the base are plain. The font appears to be a very crude work and/or badly damaged and eroded. There is no cover present in Tynell's photographs. No entry found in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld under either Gödelöv or Östra Tunhem. The entry for this church in Svenska kyrkan [https://www.svenskakyrkan.se/genarp/godelovs-kyrka] [accessed 22 February 2023] informs that the medieval baptismal font in this church was formerly in Östra Tunhem's medieval church, in Västergötland. A ca. 1863 drawing by P.A. Säve: Berättelse för år 1863 (s. 54, A.T.A.) [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Östra_Tunhems_kyrka_-_KMB_-_16001000013949.jpg] [accessed 24 February 2023] shows the old church at Östra Tunhem practivally in ruins, which may explain the translation of the font to Gödelöv. An earlier drawing in Peringskiölds monumenta IX showed the church in good keep [[https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Östra_Tunhems_kyrka_-_KMB_-_16001000013948.jpg] [accessed 24 February 2023]; it would eventually be re-built in 1900 but the font remainedin Gödelöv.
