Church Notes: medieval church demolished 1849; present church designed by Carl Georg Brunius and built in 1844-1849
A large fragment of the roughly cylindrical basin remains now and it is located in the Lunds universitets historiska museum. Tynell (1913-1921) notes that it was mentioned in Elof Kristofer Tegnér's Anteckningar om Lunds univ. hist. museum, samlingar till Skånes historia, fornkunscap och beskrifning 1871: 40. The fragment is described and illustrated in Tynell (ibid.) as the remains of a 'Torrlösagruppen' font, and identifies the material as sandstone from Köpinge in in southeast Scania; Tynell (ibid.) confirms the location of the fragment in the above museum. Noted and illustrated in Rydbeck (1936) in her section on 'mästaren med korstriangeln'. It is also noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 940920F8] as the basin of a baptismal font made of sandstone in the first half of the 13th century; the SHM gives attribution as 'palmettgruppen' but qualifies that attribution by adding that, although the general motifs point to this group, the work is much too primitive and must have been made at a later date by regional workshop [="form och motiv pekar mot palmettgruppens funtar, men det primitiva utförandet antyder att det rör sig om ett något senare, provinsiellt arbete"]. The present font in this church is made of wood and was installed there in 1707. The baptismal dish was made of brass in the 16th century.
