Noted in Brunius (1850). Described and illustrated in Tynell (1913-1921, pl. VI, 3-5), who compares it to the font at Andrarum, and describes the depiction of the legends of saints Hubert and Eustachius on its sides. Noted and illustrated in Rydbeck (1936), in her section on Calcarius and the Knislinge master. Noted and illustrated in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900716F2] as a baptismal font of the 'Knislingegruppen' made of sandstone in the first half of the 13th century. On-site notes: chalice-shaped font; the basin, almost cylindrical, has scenes of the legend of St. Hubert (of Liege), a hunter who found an image of the crucified Christ between the antlers of a stag while hunting on Good Friday -- legend borrowed from the Acts of Eustace. One of the scenes shows Hubert on his knee, the horse behind him; next is another scene with dogs chasing the stag; a third shows a boat at sea (?) . On the upper side of the basin is an acanthus vine with palmette motif in the spandrels, framed between two flat mouldings. The underbowl is decorated with ribbed pattern. The stem is moulded; the lower base is round-to-square, with human heads at the four angles; it is not clear whether the two parts, basin and base, were the original set. The font is in excellent overall shape. No cover present.
