Noted in Roosval (1918). Described and illustrated in Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. VII, hft. 2: 71-75, 98) as the basin -unfortunately much damaged- of a sandstone baptismal font from the Semi-Byzantios workshop and dated to the second half of the 12th century; it is ornamented with an arcade of round arches resting sometimes on "normal" columns, sometimes on monster-head columns; scenes from the childhood of Christ (Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, etc.) fill the arches. Noted in Stenström (1975) and in Svanberg (1995). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910502F2] as a fragment of the basin of a baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century by Semi-Byzantios. There is a base in the parish church, now supporting a late basin [cf. Index entry for Linde No. 2] [cf. infra]. On-site notes: the basin, located now in the Fornsal Museum in Visby, has been severely damaged, with pieces missing from it; a central drain hole is evident. The base is still in the church at Linde, reused with a newer basin. The iconographic program, scenes from the Childhood of Christ, moves from the right to the left [cf. Images area]. There are eight arches in the arcade.
