There are two entries for Stoodleigh [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SS9218/stoodleigh/] [accessed 16 January 2023]; neither of them mentions cleric or church in it. A fonrt here is described and illustrated in Bond (1908) as late-Norman dated by the spur or griffe that appears on the corners of its lower base, as well as "for their elongated proportions and the shape of the bowl"; these elements suggest to Bond (ibid.) a late 12th or, more likely, an early 13th-century date. The font consists of four elements: a plain, roughly hemispheric basin (as Bond indicates [cf. supra], rather elongated); it has an outer texture like coarse granite, while the inside well is lined with lead; the upper volume of the base is cylindrical and is ornamented with four humand heads/masks at 90-degree angles on its upper part; the next volume down is a thick round moulding with four large leaves at 90-degree angles (each corresponding to the head above); the lower volume, the plinth is square and may be of a later date. Noted in Pevsner (1952): "Font. Circular, Norman, with undecorated bowl, but two quaint faces sticking out of the shaft." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SS9225818830] notes: "Parish church. Font probably C12; west tower, western bays of nave and aisle C15, church extended by one bay to the east, chancel rebuilt and whole church thoroughly restored 1872-9 […] The nave has an unusual possibly C12 font; a round bowl on a cylindrical stem decorated with 2 carved profile heads and mouldings on the base; C19 font cover in the Romanesque style."
