There is an entry for this Sandhurst [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SO8223/sandhurst/] [accessed 17 February 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. A font here is described and illustrated in Bond (1908) as a cylindrical lead font; in its ornamentation "the chief feature is a large arcade, generally with prominent figures under the arches". The arcade consists of eleven arches. In Fryer (1908) [NB: Fryer's entry gives the church dedication as St. Mary -- it is dedicated to St. Lawrence]. Dated in Stone (1955) to the mid-twelfth century. Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. One of six late C12 lead fonts in Gloucestershire […] Round bowl with an arcade of eleven compartments in low relief, containing five seated figures and six foliated scrolls. C19 stone stem."
