Nordström (1984) writes: "there are four heads alient in the four directions" on the base, and mentions a devil talking to a head: "a human figure with neck, shoulders and arms. She is holding the heads of two asps or dragons before her cheeks [...] She is obviously listening to the voice of the Devil". Nordström (ibid) mentions "a similar motif" on the Curdworth font, in England. The entry for this church in the Riksantikvarieämbetets bebyggelseregister [https://www.kyrkoguidervaxjostift.se/resources/Kastlösa-kyrka-1_06_512.pdf] and [https://bebyggelseregistret.raa.se/bbr2/byggnad/visaHistorik.raa?page=historik&visaHistorik=true&byggnadId=21400000442715] [accessed 11 January 2023] reports two fonts in it: the base of a Gotland sandstone base and a later font made of wood: "Dopfunten med uttömningshål har en fot av gotländsk sandsten 1200-talet. Här finns även en dopfunt av trä". The carved base is all that remains of a medieval font here; it is round in shape and is carved with heads at 90-degree angles, one of which appears to have a devil speaking to it on the side; around the top is a broad round moulding decorated with beaded tape; the round basin and the octagonal lower base are modern. No cover present. The base is noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920815F1] as the base of a baptismal font from ca. 1200 on which there are four protruding heads [one missing now]; between the heads the source identifies one human head being becked by a dragon on each side, while on another side a rampant lion fights a snake whose body is partly trapped by one of the animal heads on the left. There is a second font in the church, placed at the west end of the nave: it is modern, of pedestal design and made of wood, decorated with cherub heads around the underbowl.
