Noted and illustrated in Mackeprang (1941) as a font of the 'Sønerjydske rankefonte' group, by the same master who carved the chancel tympanum at Randlev. The entry for this church in Danmarks Kirker [http://danmarkskirker.natmus.dk/uploads/tx_tcchurchsearch/Aarhus_2441-2460.pdf] [accessed 5 January 2023] notes a monolithic barrel-shaped baptismal font made of reddish granite; a wooden font was introduced in 1830 and the old one had been discarded and relegated to the porch until it was restored to the interior in 1883, located by the north side of the chancel arch; the basin is decorated with naïve figures: a Cricifixion scene is followed by an arcade of eight arches containing: the Fall of Man, a series of animals in different poses, one of them in the usual lion with the tail up towards the hind quarters, a haloed figure; DK also mentions a possible stoup that was located in the Rathlousdal garden nearby: "en tøndeformet døbefont med naive figurfremstillinger samt muligvis et vievandskar, der i slutningen af forrige århundrede blev opstillet i Rathlousdals have." Nordstrom (1984) notes there is a Fall of Man scene on this font. Baptismal font of round tapering shape made of granite; the basin has a thick moulding at the upper end, then an arcade of round arches that contain scenes and figures; the arcade stops on the side that has a Crucifixion scene; at the bottom of the basin is another thick moulding, thicker than the one at top, and decorated with incised reticular pattern; the base is short, circular and plain, and appears to be part of the same block of granite as the basin [cf. supra]. No cover present.
