Chalice-shaped font has square lower base. The basin has figures/scenes framed by round arches (description based on ill. in Hartling, 1964, between pp. 24-25). Nordstrom (1984) says the Legend of St. Nicholas is represented. On-site notes: the carving on rough granite does not help with the identification; at least two of the scenes incklude Christ; does not really include the usual elements of the St. Nicholas legend; even if the table were a bed, the figures are haloed, which would not make much sense in the context of the St. Nicholas legend . A scene of Christ in Majesty, on the south side; Christ standing, on the southwest side; St. Michael slaying the dragon, on the east side; these three scenes are the only fairly certain identifications of the eight the basin contains. The base is round-to-square, and part of it is buried in the flooring, probably not much, the depth of the tiles, about an inch or so. The inside of the basin well is filled with sand, so we could not look for evidence of a drain [some of these granite fonts of the area do not have any drainage]
