Tynell (1913-1921) has two entries for Österslöv [spelled Österslöf]; the second entry, "Österslöf II" describes a base of sandstone, round to square and decorated with lion protomes; Tynell (ibid.) adds that [pieces of?] the missing basin were built into an old fireplace at Österslöv's rectory; Tynell (ibid.) gives the location of this base as the Lunds universitets historiska museum. Noted and illustrated in Rydbeck (1936) in her section on the Tove master. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900511F2] as a the base of a sandstone baptismal font made of sandstone in the last quarter of the 12th century by Tove; the SHM bases its attribution on the similarities with the snakes and lions on the Tove font at Gumlösa. The museum at Lund University has the base of the medieval font; it is roughly round to square in shape, with a patterned roll moulding atop; a grotesque head covers each corner of the base, their teeth biting the writhing bodies of the snakes that fill the sides; there is a large hole in the inside, probably part of the font drainage channel. The present font and its notable lid in the new church are 17th-century.
