Illustrated in Hildebrand (1907). Noted in Roosval (1917) as a two-piece font in the Statens Historiska Museum of Stockholm. Described and illustrated in the SHM database [https://medeltidbild.historiska.se/medeltidbild/visa/foremal.asp?objektid=910615F1] [accessed 9 October 2012], with date circa 1200. Listed in Drake (2002) as a baptismal font of the Bestiarius workshop (Group 4). Invetoried and illustrated in Borg (2002) as a baptismal font in the 'Njudungsgruppens huvudtyp' made of sanstone between 1170 and 1220. On-site notes: this font of the Bestiarius workshop is chalice shaped, consisting of a cylindrical bowl raised on a round base of two levels with animal heads; decorated with an arcade of seven arches carved around the basin; inside the arches: at the front, a warrior armed with sword and long shield faces a two-headed dragon on his right; the six other arches have animal motifs, including a possible centaur in the third arch, but are too damaged for identiffication; the first two arches, the warrior and the two-headed dragon (?) may have meant to form a fighting scene; the arches and columns of the arcade have beaded-tape motif on them; the upper rim of the basin side has braided motif, the lower one, zig-zag; the centre ring, a rope moulding, is part of the basin block, but there are two others that are part of the base block, one between the upper four heads, the other between the lower heads of the base. The base is of two-layer design with a total of eight heads, four on each level, looking like two tortoises, one on top of the other, but some (?) of the animals are feline,, protome-like, probably lions, there front legs hanging down; the sides of the basin have passant animals, probably lions as well. The basin is badly damaged, being broken horizontally into three parts [NB: the font is now [August 2012] at the Statens Historiska Museum, Stockholm].
