Font Notes:
Noted in Brunius (1850). Described and illustrated in Tynell (1913-1921) with details of the carved scenes on it; Tynell suggests some details comparable to the font Kvidinge; mentions reference to Brunius. Noted and illustrated in Rydbeck (1936) in her section on the Calcarius and Knislinge masters' fonts. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900626F1] as a 'Knislingemästaren' baptismal font made of sandstone in the first half of the 13th century. On-site notes: the font is carved and is unlike the Calcarius fonts in the degree of workmanship and carving skill; attributed to the Knislinge master. The sides of the font have the Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity and Dream of Joseph, Annunciation to the Shepherds and Flight to Egypt; the underbowl has a flat ribbed pattern; the base is round-to-square, with serpents on it. The original block of stone is still very much evident in the base. The basin has a central drainage hole. There is no font cover present nor is there any evidence of anchoring hardware in the rim of the basin.
