Listed in Tynell (1914) and in Rydbeck (1936). Noted and illustrated in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900712F2] as a baptismal font of limestone of the first half of the 13th century, covered in marble-like ["marmorliknande"] paint. On-site notes: the sides of the basin include scenes ferom the Childhood of Christ cycle: Nativity with dreaming Joseph, Flight to Egypt, Majestas Domini, Annunciation to the Shepherds and the presence of an angel and a priest (?) which is no easily explained; the angel may be part of the Annunciation to the shepherds scene but, the priest? the underbowl is decorated with an acanthus vine with little floral motifs in the spandrels; the base is round at the top and square at the bottom [perhaps re-cut?] and has a roll moulding in the centre; the font is covered in a heavy coat of dark paint but appears otherwise in a good state of conservation except for the significant damage to one side of the basin, the one with the Christ in Majesty in a mandorla held by two angels [cf. ImagesArea and FieldNotes for a full description of the programm on the font]. The wooden canopy over the font hangs from the south pillar of the chancel and is also fixed to the wall; it looks suspiciously like the former sounding board of a pulpit and is probably dated to the 17th or 18th century.
