Described and illustrated in Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. I, hft. 3: 271-274) as a sandstone cylindrical mounted baptismal font from the Sighraf workshop and dated to the second half of the 12th century by Roosval; the lively painted basin has scenes of Christ and the Apostles, the Harrowing of Hell and St. Michael; the underbowl has scalloped pattern ornamentation. The stem of the base is, like the basin, also sandstone, with four corner figures (cleric, Madonna and Child, bishop and St. Peter); on the sides between the figures are: a lance-bearing riding a horse, a hooded centaur carrying an ax, a stag and a tree-like plant; the square lower base or plinth is square, made of limestone and probably a later addition. The wooden cover is a low dome with a building on it (identified as a "miniatyrkyrkan" [=miniature church] in Fåhraeus (1974)). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910503F1] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the last quarter of the 12th century, but painted in 1723; the SHM entry cites Roosval's attribution but warns that the figural representation on this font differs greatly from Sighraf's characteristic style.=; the SHM entry further notes that the square lower end may be a later addition. On-site notes: the font is heavily painted, in good condition, and has few narrative scenes. The program probably moves from the left to the right; the centre ring appears to be patterned with foliage in one area, under the paint that covers it [cf. Image section for full iconographic program]. The upper bowl is not by the Sighraf workshop [cf. supra for Roosval's opinion] but must have been done by one of the artisan's who had worked on the Majestatis fonts. The base is by the same artisan who did the Eke font bowl. The font has a 13th-century wooden lid. There are two plinths under this font. The first is square and 13-14th century. The lower one is more recent and round. [NB: site re-visited 28 May 2018]
