Noted and illustrated in Roosval (1918) as a font of the Gothic period with scenes of Genesis within the arches of an arcade. Pudelko (1932) dates this font to ca. 1260-1265. In Nordström (1984). On-site notes: cylindrical font on a plain squat equally cylindrical base; the basin has a band of vine leaves and fruit motif around the upper part; below it a large arcade of trilobe arches fills the sides; the spandrels of the arches have a 'mascaron', or 'Green Man', in each, with vegetation stemming from the face; the same leaf motif, the vine leaf, of the upper and lower bands appears on the capitals of the columns, here a single leaf on each capital; the bases are rounded with ball or spur motif at the corners; the arcade houses the following scenes: 1)Baptism of Christ; 2)God warning Adam and Eve; 3)Temptation and Fall; 4)Expulsion from Paradise; 5)Cain and Abel make their offerings to God; 6)Cain murders Abel; the bottom of the basin side is decorated with another ornamental band, this one consisting clearly of a grapevine. The squat base is plain and probably later than the basin. The font is in excellent condition [was it restored?] and has a modern wooden cover [NB: a 2008 photograph shows the font topped with round metal (copper & iron?) cover that apears to have been a later addition].
