Additional Comments: altered font? (was the base a replacement?)
Font Notes:
Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1966) as a medieval baptismal font of sandstone; basin decorated with arcade of six arches housing a Baptism of Christ scene attended by a pair of facing angels, foliage, animal; the base is wider than the basin, giving the font an odd look [perhaps the font was a replacement?]. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920707F1] as a baptismal font made of sandstone ca. 1200; the SHM entry does not find any cognates to it or a known workshop, but it mentions a Baptism of Christ scene, two assisting angels and a dragon in the six arcades of its basin; it also notes that it very weathered and with multiple cracks.
