Noted in Hallbäck (1971) and in Nordström (1984). Noted and illustrated in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920518F1] as a sandstone font of the Skaragruppen dated to the late 12th century. Svenska kyrkan [www.svenskakyrkan.se/savare/harjevad-kyrka] [accessed 28 February 2020] gives master Othelric as the carver of the fonts at Härjevad, Hornborga, Norra Härene, Öttum, Skeby, Västerplana and of the church of Skälvum. On-site notes: the font is of the type seen at Skalvum, etc., except that, in this case, it has Adam and Eve, the fall of Mankind on the basin sides as well as, St. Michael and the Dragon, the baptism of Christ with an angel, John holding a feather duster and the large bird in this scene as well; there is also the hand of God coming down unto Christ. The last scene mentioned by Nordström (1984) on this font is the battle scene; however, there is only one centaur who is figihting a rider on horseback carrying a bow and arrow [cf. Images]. The underside of the bowl is plain and the base is moulded. There is a central drainage hole in the bowl. The bowl is not very deep, as is the case with fonts from this workshop. The outer side is much larger giving the impression that the inner bowl is deep; it is not. The material looks like sandstone; there is no evidence of lids on any of these particular group of fonts.
