Noted in Brunius. Described and illustrated in Tynell (1913-1921) as the sandstone basin [base missing] of a baptismal font; Tynell (ibid.) describes the scenes fully but does give a master or workshop attribution. Described and illustrated in Rydbeck (1936), in her section of the Tryde master, but attributed to a master of Hegwald's circle. In Nordström (1984). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900731F3] as the basin of a sandstone font; the SHM entry mentions Rydbeck's attribution to a follower of Hegwald's [cf. supra] but does not endorse it; instead it qualifies as "oidentifierad - saknar paralleller". On-site notes: the original basin remains but the base is a modern replacement; below the rim is a vine loaded with fruit; a set of round arch-heads frames the following scenes, given here in left-to-right order, which is obviously not a sequential narrative: 1)Baptism of Christ in the Jordan, not by John but by an angel assited by a tonsured monk; 2)God blesses Adam (?); 3)Christ blesses Adam and Eve [after the Harrowing of Hell?]; 4)Temptation and Fall: Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit; 5)the labaour of Adam and Eve after their expulsion from Eden. The literature in the church states this is a Hegwald font - which is incorrect. There are depictions of Adam and Eve which may account for this attribution - stylistically, it is clearly not the work of this workshop. The design of the vine bearing fruit is similar to that found on the Sighraf fonts. No cover present.
