Described and illustrated in Tynel (1913- ), who gives the complete text of the inscription [cf. InscriptionArea]. In Roosval (1918). In Rydbeck (1936) with attribution to the 'Dalbymästaren' workshop. Nordstrom (1984): Baptism scene ornaments this font. Corelli (2001) [after Tynell?], reproduces the Latin inscription on this font. The font is said to be similar to the one Dalby, in the same area. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900620F4] as a font made of sandstone in the late 12th century; the SHM entry mentions Rydbeck's attribution [cf. supra] but does not endorse it, rather describing it as "oidentifierad - saknar paralleller"; the SHM further notes that the base is a modern replacement, and gives Tynell's version of the inscription. On-site notes: tapering basin is in good shape, other than some notches on the upper rim, probably related to former cover hardware; the central drain, if there was one originally, it is now plugged; Latin inscription all around beneath the upper rim; carving is rather shallow; arcade of eight round arches on well-defined columns with capitals and bases; each arch contains a figure, the baptism of Christ scene spread over three arches (John the Baptist - Christ in the Jordan - angel with vestments); figure seated facing left (is it a Majestas Domini?); Tree of life; the Temptation of Christ in two arches: Christ in the left arch carrying a processional cross, and Satan with three stones in the right arch; plain splaying base, perhaps a replacement of the original. No cover present but a metal (copper?) insert is used inside the font.
