Cylindrical unmounted Romanesque font dated in Lübke (1870), Baum (1930), Pudelko (1932), Barral i Altet (2003) and many others to ca. 1129 (1128?) [on the basis of the inscription which dates the consecration of the church]. Described and illustrated in Carlsson (1976). Doctoral dissertation on this font by Soltek (1987). Described in Kroesen & Steensma (2004) as "one of the most beautiful Romanesque baptismal fonts in Germany", with date ca.1130. In Méhu (2007). On-site notes: the basin sides have two major registers, the upper one framed at the top by a narrow band of foliage motif. In the upper register an arcade of seven round arches contains the following scenes [NB: direction is from Right to Left]: 1) Annunciation; 2) Nativity; 3) Baptism of Christ; 4) Crucifixion; 5) Harrowing of Hell; 6) Ascension of Christ; 7) Last Judgement (identified in the Index of Christian Art as "Christ: Last Judgment"). Between the upper and lower registers, a band with an inscription [cf. Inscriptions -- the issue of the date of the inscription has been raised; one argument is that the date of the inscription is actually 13th-century, and shares characteristics with the 13th-century tomstone of Geva, in the crypt]. The lower register depicts Daniel among the lions. The base is a short platform ornamented with a moulding. [cf. Juan Antonio Olañeta -- e-mail to BSI 7 Jan 2011 and ref. in www.claustro.com/AntTestamento/daniel_foso/webpages/catalogo_daniel_foso.htm].
