Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1966) and Nordström (1984). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920608F3] as a Andreasgruppen baptismal font made of sandstone ca. 1200; the basin is decorated with seven arches that include scenes, symbols, etc. [cf. detailed description infra]. On-site notes: cylindrical mounted baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the basin sides are ornamented with an arcade of round arches containing scenes or motifs: two figures holding books (clerics?) point to the next scene that shows Christ in a chalice (or is it a font?); an Agnus Dei with cross, a dove, an acanthus plant, a Nativity and a Cricifixion scenes; the underbowl has low-relief ribbed pattern, ending with a centre ring moulding. The base is conical with lower vertical sides; it is very worn -the relief ornamentation is hardly visible- and badly damaged, but some of the details can still be discerned, like the crude lion heads, both upright and upside-down, etc.; the vertical sides have several incised horizontal lines all around. It is a crude and uneven work, both in general design and in the ornamentation program. The location of the font has changed at least three times; it would have been located originally by the entranceway to the church; when BSI visited the church in 1997 and 2002 the font was located in the chancel, towards the north side, near the pulpit; in 2003 [cf. ImageArea] this font had been moved to the south side of the chancel]
