The choir celing is painted with later 13th century murals, one of which is the crowning of the Virgin in Heaven by Christ and, next to them, a representation of Father Abraham and the souls in his lap. Described and illustrated in Tynell (1913-1921: [51]-52 and pl. XVIII: 2-4, and pl. XIX: 1-3); suggests the stone may be sandstone from Hör. In Rydbeck (1936). In Nordström (1984). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900721F1] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the last quarter of the 12th century by Tove, the same master/workshop who signed the font at Gumlösa; the SHM entry notes that the inscription, which describes the scenes, have mirrored and upside-down letters; the SHM entry also points out that, even though the Jesus in a font scene may suggest his First Bath, the inscription around it leaves no doubt that it is indeed a representation of his Baptism. On-site notes: the font is in beautiful condition with an ellaborate Latin inscription [cf. Inscription area] around the arches and frames of the different images [cf. Images area], including a baptism of Christ scene, with Christ inside a chalice-shaped baptismal font, all around the basin sides. The base has protruding heads with prey (snakes? dragons?) in their mouths. [cf. ImagesArea and FiledNotes for a full description of the programme on this font]. The wooden cover was made of oak in the 17th century.
