Tynell (1913-1921: 58) identifies the stone of the font as sandstone from Hör. In Roosval (2018). Carlsson (1976: 91) describes one of the protruding heads as a man pulling his moustache; Carlsson (ibid., p. 140) identifies another of the heads as an eagle with "a prey in its beak." Ljungman (1993: 10) identifies the figures of the base as: biting beast, false prophet, burning harlot and lion with prey. Noted and illustrated in Rydbeck (1936) in the section on the Tryde master. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900730F4] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century by Majestatis; the SHM entry reports a copper lining present and that there is drain hole in the stone basin. No cover present. On-site notes: the carver appears to have caried out the work over the natural irregularities of the stone block; the font is in excellent condition and showing traces of earlier painting on it; unable to confirm if there was a central drainage hole because of the metal lining inserted into the upper bowl [cf. supra]. Scenes of Christ in Majesty, Etimasia, etc. ornament the basin sides; the underbowl has an Etimasia, a Visitation and the four symbols of the Evangelists [cf. Iconographical data and Images areas as well as FieldNotes for more details].
