Described and illustrated in Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. III: 306-308) as an octagonal mounted baptismal font attributed to the Byzantios workshop and dated to circa 1145 by Roosval; arcade of round arches resting on low columns around the basin sides; arches house the usual array of Byzantios' motifs: centaur, Spinario, archer, animals, etc. Four protruding heads at 90-degree angles on the stem of the base: ram, human and two lions, again the usual distribution in Byzantios' fonts. Wooden lid on the font. In Stenström (1975) and in Nordström (1984). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910811F1] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century by Byzantios. On-site notes: the octagonal mounted font [NB: the top rim is round] has an ornate wooden lid from a later period (type of cake with spindle finial - other such covers dating as far back as the 14th century. The font is in good condition and was once painted; it stands on a flat, worn stone, with grooves radiating out from the centre. The font once had another lid as is evident from the holes in the side. A side drainage hole has been cut into the stone (the bottom of the bowl and out of the ring circling the lower base - a square shape). The plinth is square at the corner, conical upward shape with a round top and four protruding heads on it. The wooden font cover is of the 'cake' type, similar to the one on the Hejde font.
