Nordstrom (1984) notes the appearance of Samson and the Lions. Carlsson (1976) mentions "a corner-figure, gripping a lion on ther font-base at Ekeby [...] shown together with Samson tearing up a tree." Noted in Lundberg (1937), Fåhraeus (1974), Stenström (1975), Eriksson (1980) and Svaberg (1995). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910506F3] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the mid-12th century; the SHM entry notes Roosval's attribution of a part of the font to the Majestatis master and points out the composite nature of the object in three unmatched blocks. On-site notes: there are six arches around the upper bowl, which contain scenes; two of the arches have an additional shelf-like space above the main scene, each with three human figures [cf. Images area for details]. The underside of the bowl has a single lion and four acanthus and fleur-de-lis combinations. The lower base has four bulging groupings at the angles [cf. Images area for details] and, on the sides, Moses (?), a Tree of Life (?), a bishop (?) and the martyrdom of St. Lars/Lawrence (?) [all identifications are thwarted by the eroded state of the stone]; the font appears to be made of three unmatched blocks.
