Noted and illustrated in Hildebrand (1907). In Roosval (1918). Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. VI, hft. 6: 519, 538) attributes it to the workshop of master Sigraf and dates it to the second half of the 12th century, "the only object that can be said with any degree of certainty to have belonged to the stave church". In Stenström (1975). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910816F1] as the basin of a baptismal font made of sandstone in the last quarter of the 12th century by Sighraf, raised on a replacement base of limestone. On-site notes [visited 1993, 1997, 2002, 2012]: scenes of the Childhood of Christ: Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, Dream of the Magi, Voyage of the Magi [cf. Images section for full iconographic details]. In good condition. One lid hole in bowl. The base is decorated with large leaves which point downward and a vine; it is upside down and it is a replacement [cf. SHM supra]. Said to be similar to the font at Hannas (Skåne). Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. VI, hft. 6: 519, 538) attributes it to the workshop of master Sigraf and dates it to the second half of the 12th century, "the only object that can be said with any degree of certainty to have belonged to the stave church". [NB: the early dates assigned to some of the Gotland masters have been questioned and later dates suggested for them]. [NB: the cardinal points are given in the full iconographic details only as indicative of the *present* orientation of the font; we have no information on its original or earlier location and orientation. As usual in BSI entries, the iconographic programme is numbered from left to right starting on the east side]. Photo essay on the font 2010 by Aanders Söderlund [http://orgelanders.se/Gotlandskyrkor/Dopfunt_eke.htm] [accessed 4 October 2016]
